Painting or coating is a finishing process that adds single or multiple layer of various chemicals to ensure protection of material surface against rust, corrosion and adds to the aesthetic value and overall life of products.

During this process a layer of chemical based paint or fine powedred particles are either sprayed or bombarded on the surface of the product. When the paint fumes or fine particles of chemicals come in contact with the operator it may cause the following problems:

  • Lung Infection
  • Occupational Asthma
  • Irritation of Throat and Lungs
  • Dermatitis
  • Loss of coordination
  • Eczema
  • Reduced Lung function
  • Cancer
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Rhinitis
  • Nervous damage (due to long term exposure)

Painting Environment

Painting area should be controlled and well ventilated.
Safety Masks / Respirators must be worn at all times while Coating.
Safety Glasses must be worn at all times while performing Painting operation.
Skin must be well covered while operation. A thorough shower is a must post operation to avoid any fine particles sticking along the skin.
Fume Extractors must be used to avoid health and environmental hazards.

Like any other contaminants it is best to control the fumes at its source to ensure maximum arrest of VOC particles
